Full Grant for Career Training Available for Those at Family Promise

We’re pleased to announce that a full-tuition career training and certification grant is available for those at Family Promise who are victims of extreme financial hardship, abuse, or domestic violence.

Family Promise of Southwestern Pennsylvania (FPSWPA) is a local partnership that brings together the faith community to provide much-needed care and assistance to families experiencing homelessness. The program relies on volunteers who generously give their time and resources to help these families get back on their feet. With over 800 volunteers mobilized through local faith congregations and the community, Family Promise is making a difference in the lives of those who need it most.

The shelter and services provided by this organization range from 24-hour care for children that have been uprooted from their homes due to family disputes or natural disasters like fires through case management with plans explicitly tailored towards individual needs. Volunteers range from people cooking meals or moving beds to those sleeping overnight with the kids in their own home-like setting. They are committed to providing an inclusive environment where everyone can feel safe regardless of age, sex, race, religion, and sexual orientation.

Famished to break the cycle of homelessness, Family Promise has been on a relentless search for programs to help those in need. They’re always looking out not only for those who are currently without homes but also find ways to train people, so they have employable skills as well. With a lack of employable skills being the number one cause for homelessness, Family Promise partners with local organizations to provide education and training to help families find the stability they need to succeed.

A career accessibility organization, Preppy, has made a full-tuition training grant available to those at Family Promise to get the career training of their choice online.  Those who are interested can go to https://preppy.org/certified-future-program/, apply for the grant, or learn more about the organization here: https://preppy.org/company/about-us/.

We are so excited to offer this grant to those in need of career training. We believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to pursue their dreams, and we are committed to helping make that happen for those in Southwestern Pennsylvania. We hope that this grant will help those in need get the training they need to start or further their careers and propel them to financial stability.

The Family Promise experience through the words of guests, staff, and volunteers.

Family Promise helps families experiencing homelessness attain sustainable independence. It sounds simple, but homelessness is the result of a complex set of issues. This film, produced by the national Family Promise organization, shares how Family Promise is able to make a difference in the lives of tens of thousands of families each year.
